The Sims 5 quietly cancelled

‘THE SIMS 5’ is not in the works.

• Main reason is EA not wanting players to have to restart a decade’s worth of gameplay after ‘THE SIMS 4’

• A multiplayer mode is in the works for ‘THE SIMS 4’

Sims 2 had the best customization and remains playable tbh lol

I loved Sims 1, and I adored the fuck out of Sims 2. Tried playing Sims 4 a few days ago but it's really annoying and not intuitive at all! Tbh I wish Sims 2 was on Steam, I'd be playing it non stop! Now I asked my flatmate to download it for me lmao

I mean, I couldn't even give my sim a huge forehead! I'm too old and tired for mods I want to make abominations with the in game features :')

I recently got a new laptop and I haven't dared yet to try if Sims 2 works on it. It NEEDS to, for my emotional well-being and I'm scared it won't!

The main reason I did not lose my mind during the pandemic is because some kind soul on Twitter DMed me a download link for Sims 2 (it's technically abandonware, since it's impossible to buy it anymore, anyway). This game has insane replayability even in 2024.

I also played Sims 1 again 10 years ago or so, when I was writing my thesis, and it also holds up surprisingly well. There isn't a clear goal and the sims don't really have personalities, but it's insanely difficult to just keep your sims functional and there's a lot to do, so it doesn't get boring.

Sims 4 I can play for 2-3 days and then I'm bored of it.

They're probably waiting for InZOI and Paralives to come out to see how they are received before announcing a new game. When they do, it will probably just be called "The Sims" and considered a reboot like SimCity 2013 (but we know how that turned out...).
