rez ball: this hit all the typical sports movie beats so if that’s not your bag you might not like it much, but i really enjoyed it. dealt with a lot of heavy topics (such as suicide and alcoholism), but with a lot of compassion. great performances and wow, new mexico looked beautiful.
anora: i saw this in an absolutely packed theatre with a crowd that was totally game, which was a blast. not to be like “and then everybody clapped” but there were two separate spontaneous rounds of applause during the movie lol and all the comedy really landed. mikey madison crushed. the stuff behind the spoiler tags is not really a movie spoiler, but stuff i was glad i didn’t know going in. [Spoiler (click to open)]the supporting cast was so solid that i can see anyone being someone’s favourite, but it was yuriy borisov for me. i didn’t see ( ... )

I haven't read the count of monte cristo book but I very much enjoyed the film! I now see why it has engaged so many people over the years. I think it works as a longer film as well, it doesn't drag at all. I hope you get to see it and enjoy it!

I went with my sober group to see The Outrun on Monday. We all really enjoyed it. What works on screen possibly wouldn't work for me in a book but I might flick through it if I can get a copy.
I did just get back from Never Let Go and I was terrified for mostly all of it lol I had to close my eyes for like a 3rd of it. It's really good though.
