they finally called it quits last October

Oh, okay. I was worried this woman found out their 12-year engagement was off via the marriage announcement. 😅

It took her 12 years to realize this guy wasn’t going to marry her?

Anyway, I see an annulment in their very near future.

12 years for an engagement? I feel like the minute 1-2 years pass and no movement....probably issues in the relationship if money or other situations aren't present. I don't see the point in staying engaged 5+ years.....that would tell me something.

I think a lot of it has to do with one party really wanting to get married and the long "engagement" is the compromise. There's a difference between that sort of thing and couples who simply are just together; no marriage, no engagement, but very much committed to each other. The former is one half of the party wanting marriage while the other half ultimately does not (but they don't want to "lose" you, hence the "engagement") and that should be a dealbreaker.

I agree. Yeah I usually think looooong engagements just means one partner is not totally into commitment on a legal level and/or also a personal level too. Same thing with having doubts about having kids with said person or they don't want kids.

But again anytime I see looong engagements I'm like "hmmmm this probably isn't gonna work out".

It’s a weird situation. He also raised her daughter even though he didn’t marry her and after they broke up, she moved to Texas and he is continuing to let her daughter live with him in Louisiana. I looked at his social media and he made a Daughter’s Day post both for his biological daughter and her daughter. I guess that could be why she stayed engaged so long, because he was treating his daughter as his own, and why she’s not trashing him.

She looks kind of like Lana to me. He clearly has a type.
