Not gonna lie, but if I took a paycut for a film for a theater release and backend profit and then found out it wasn't being released at all I would be livid. Don't fuck with people's money.

I feel you, good sis/sir but it sets a horrible precedent (especially for talent without the star power of Clooney and Pitt). You can't say "I want to cut your upfront pay but give you points instead and give the movie a theatrical opening" to attract people to your project and then don't deliver those things in the end. Besides the obvious reasons, it also chases away the people lower on the totem pole that the studio needs (craftpeople, fx folks, designers, stagefolks, etc); there's a studio right now that is beginning to have issues in that regard, and I'm quite interested in their output in the next few years because while they might get the folks fresh out of college who want to add a name to their resume they aren't getting the veteran professionals thy once did. Once you get a rep for killing completed projects and fucking with people's pay they don't want to fuck with you.

$300mill as a budget? For...a movie about racing?! How???? Where????

Power Rangers Turbo brought us cars... that fought evil for $10 as a budget.

Apple needs to rethink its marketing, period. People can't watch things if they don't know they exist, whether they are on streaming or in theaters.

It's very disappointing to me that they will spend so much money on shows and movies, refuse to advertise them in a meaningful way, and then get mad when they flop. They have much more consistent, high quality output than any other streamer at this point. And I truly don't understand pissing off the actors who took a pay cut to get a movie in theaters - just stick to the deal you made and pivot the next thing to streaming! Christ.

Imagine if they just focused on actually promoting the shows they already make?
