istg i'm not even a chappell stan - her "i don't care about the fame~" shtick always made me roll my eyes even before the VMAs snafu - but all the ppl attacking her in bad faith have me in the trenches lol. i saw ppl on twitter (a lot of swifties tbqh!) accusing her of being a centrist or even being closet maga. lmfao.
way too many people also seem to equate endorsement with voting, which might be a failure of our educational system, idk. insert that pancakes vs waffles meme here. someone said in the other post that she already said she was voting for kamala, so clearly she thinks that one side is demonstrably worse, although ia she could have been more articulate with her "both sides" comment. not that i disagree that both sides ARE bad, but at this point it has become a centrist dogwhistle so better to just stay away from that phrasing altogether. (still dumb as fuck to accuse her of being centrist though.)

And just as another disclaimer bc the last post taught me that ONTD is incapable of discernment, I am going to vote for Kamala. I live in a fucking swing state, you don't have to tell me that Trump is worse. But I'm not going to begrudge someone from California if they feel differently (as long as they don't vote for Jill Stein lmfao).
(chappell, girl, get yourself a PR agent though, stat.)

Or you know just tell people to do their own research on both candidates from reputable sources and vote based on that. Common sense that there's a bad side to both parties. I hate how it's used to be so apathetic for something so important and affects everyone.

say what you want about her, and there's many things to say, but that's a braindead take. she's been v clear on her stances.

one of my most progressive friends, who teaches at a university, is posting non-stop about how awful the Democrats are in FB. Never even mentions the Republicans, it's like they don't exist in her world. And if they didn't exist, I'd have no issue with denouncing the Dems for not being what she, a leftist, can vote for...
...but they DO exist and they ARE the alternative.
The US has a two party system. Voting third party won't do shit unless it's got statewide major support. Vote for the lesser of two evils and try to push that party left. What's letting the fascist right-wingers win gonna do for you other than give you something new to be outraged about for the next four years?

But her publicly saying she does not endorse Harris will just give Repubs/MAGAs ammo. I don’t think Chappell deserves the backlash she’s getting but voters are impressionable and many will take her stance to mean Trump is the better option, even if that’s not how she intended it (and I know that’s not what she’s saying either).
I have a bigger issues with the some of the comments in this post. Criticizing Chappell does not in any way mean that someone is pro-genocide. If members are going to be this hostile in political posts, imo it’s better that these posts be banned. I don’t need strangers on the internet making judgements on my character or my intellect or my knowledge about politics because I made one comment about some singer.
This last bit isn’t directed at you but it’s just disappointing to see such divisiveness on here.
