This was probably planned well in advance after seeing the success of Taylor's variants. And now it just looks dumb.

I think like this and the MTV Vanguard award were planned based on the idea this would be a huge comeback era for her so they have to keep going along with these plans. There's supposed to be a tour I think as well which she better position it as a greatest hits tour

It's so funny because yeah, the culture was definitely leaning into a "we were too harsh on Katy" narrative plus the way Harleys in Hawaii became so much a meme. Chappell Roan's Hot to Go was deeply Katy-coded. "Never Really Over' is her last great single and seemed like pointing her in the right direction if she had gone that way. I loved her aesthetic and Sabrina Carpenter proves that people will eat up that retro look.

The only song I kinda/sorta like is the one with Doechii (sorry to this woman, but I don't know who she is).

But it isn't outstanding or anything. It is just a fun bop that I will get bored of in a month.

I did only listen to the album once but that is already more than she deserves.

It gives the song life, it makes the reference to Crystal Waters at the end stand out more than the sample/interpolation does
