It seems weird to me too idk kinda performative and disingenuous? Until I came to the comments, I was under the impression Olivia had given birth because of the hospital bed photos… (And initially bewildered like why is she wearing a button-down and jeans so soon?!?!)
Like, my boyfriend was adopted at birth so he has pictures with his mom in the hospital but they weren’t posing in his birth mom’s bed!!!
It's definitely weird. Why a hospital bed? There's comfy chairs in a hospital (especially if they are paying good money). The baby is the patient, not the bio mother.
Feels very performative and dystopian. Very Handmaid's Tale.
idk maybe she didn't want her photo taken? I looked like crap after giving birth and wouldn't want my photo broadcast by someone with millions of fans on social media.
also what a weird dynamic that would betake. I wouldnt want a photoop with john mulaney after birth and I sure wouldn't want those ones to be the ones in insta. ontd is so odd about this shit.
I get that surrogacy is a non-starter for most of ONTD, but this seems like a somewhat fucked up question that would never be asked if they adopted that baby.
But I'm guessing they’re posing in the hospital because they were present for the birth, and it’s pretty common to capture pictures of your newborn right after they’re born-even if you didn’t do the whole pregnancy and labor thing.
this. Also it's recommended to do skin to skin with newborns to help regulate their body temp and bond, and since the baby will be in the hospital for the first couple days of its life where else should adoptive or non-birth parents spend time with the baby, in the gift shop?
I am no Olivia Munn fan but did like her post acknowledging the gestational carrier.
true, They could've done skin to skin before/after this photo i guess, but what do i know, maybe they didn't. i just was offering an explanation as to why adoptive or bio parents would be given a hospital room bc i see that laughed about a lot when someone adopts or has a surrogate.
Why do they feel the need to take pictures in the hospital bed when they didn't give birth though?

met! that is absolutely fucking weird to me. did they ask the surrogate who delivered the child to leave the room so they could get their photo ops???

ah, thank you! I suppose it makes sense that the bio parents aren't necessarily in the same room as the surrogate when she gives birth.

It's the sitting on the bed

gotcha. Maybe a chair or recliner would be more appropriate.
