We have to go back: Lost premiered today, 20 years ago

On September 22, 2004, Oceanic Flight 815 crashed on a mysterious island that was home to a smoke monster, polar bears, hippie scientists and ancient Egyptians. At the time, it was the most expensive television pilot ever filmed. Over the course of six seasons, the show enthralled and frustrated viewers with its convoluted plot and labyrinthine ( Read more... )

I only really watched the first season but I’ve used this technique I learned from Kate? when she had to cross the field with a polar bear or something, idk it’s been a while. She gave herself to the count of five to panic and then she had to get moving. It’s helped me in so many anxious and stressful situations and j probably don’t even remember it correctly!

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk, ha.

I think that’s something Jack learned from his dad from when he fucked up first surgery.

Ahh, that’s right, thank you. Either way, it’s a good tool to have in your pocket.

I have shared this before and will share it again, as a warning.

Watch the pilot episode. That's good tv.

That's it. Truly the most fun of that show.

This isn't a spoiler, but people figured it out so fast.

Figured what out so fast? Cause I guarantee you are seriously misunderstanding what happened if you think anyone figured it out before the end!

I greatly disagree with the pilot being the most fun of the show.

Tricia Tanaka is Dead and Expose would like to have a word with you.

Oh man. I was like WTF? Did that just happen?! Then nothing - absolutely nothing - was ever brought up again about them for almost THREE ENTIRE SEASONS! It was absolutely insane!

I've been considering a rewatch so I guess it's good timing. I keep hearing about the chronological order watch, which is what I think I'd like to do.

If you were going to do your first ever rewatch since it was on TV, would you do it in this order or air-date order?

Was it Lost specific? If so, it may have been The Fuselage.

One of the best pilots and one of the worst finales in tv history. That’s quite a feat.

My fav character was Rousseau but only because of the actress Mira Furlan who’s from my country and who I grew up with watching on tv in various Yugoslav tv shows and films. It was amazing to see her career thrive in the US after she was blacklisted in Croatia in the early 90s. She died recently from the West Nile fever. RIP 💔

Can you respond in a spoiler with why you think it was one of the worst series finales in TV history? That is a pretty unpopular take!

Unpopular? Since when? When it first aired it was universally disliked. The reaction was the same as how viewers reacted to GOT’s finale.

Super late to this post so maybe not necessary for a spoiler cut but

[Spoiler (click to open)]I watched the show live when it was airing. They kept saying they’d answer questions and kept audiences that were drifting away by announcing they’d have resolutions/answers to most of the mysteries in the final season. They didn’t. And then right after the finale aired were like “the ending is what it is because it wasn’t about the mysteries at all!!!! It was about relationships!!” Which is not at all what they had been saying the entire time. It was a big f you to fans. I can see how if you are watching it fresh you may enjoy the finale, but there’s a reason why a lot of people that watched it live hated it... )
