i feel like it's less awkward if it's just like...two people who were friends and collaborators who just grew apart. he must see people like amy and tina and feel kind of like "why isn't that us?"

Same. With them, at least, their careers have always gone in similar directions and stayed in similar creative spaces. With Key and Peele, they’ve been up to very different things where constantly looping each other in on their projects would make a lot less sense. But (based on pure speculation on my part) Tina and Amy seem to have also committed to actively supporting each other. People outgrow or otherwise grow apart from friends all the time, but those two also always go back to each other. So I think even if Key and Peele had continued working in the same areas this outcome might have still followed.

Sucks but it happens when careers paths start diverging.
Although I find it funny when people run over to the media to air out their personal business, makes me think that’s maybe why the relationship sour a bit.

i recently binged Key & Peele. Ok I'm going to embarrass myself for a minute and say i got a couple episodes in before i wiki'd them and realized Peele was the Jordan Peele. Don't judge me! I didn't know what Jordan Peele looked like before ok!
Anyway it made me wonder why I don't recall seeing Key in any of his films, even a small role. I was hoping it wasn't that they'd had a falling out.

I don't have any "regular" places other than work, and as much as I'd like to develop friendships elsewhere, I can't just "strike up a conversation" with a complete stranger at a cafe/bookshop/Bumble. My hobbies are mostly solo and I haven't found any group activities near me that work with my schedule AND pique my interest AND are affordable, so womp womp.

definitely. And working together. That forced closeness, where you see coworkers more hours a day than your own family.
