The Bright Eyes have been playing some smaller shows ahead of an album release

The upcoming shows including Riotfest are now cancelled

their subreddit is not surprised, since Conor Oberst has been in a very bad shape at the last shows:

damn. I hope this triggers him to get help and the people around him to support him. it seemed like phoebe was a big help/rock to him when they were close/dating.

I love his music but I could not handle going to one of these concerts. I can't watch someone destroy themselves with alcohol like that. I hate to say that it wouldn't surprise me at all if he eventually died from this. It's been 20 years of this, I don't see how it will change at this point.

Considering he has been having difficulty for such a long time, I am surprised his band hasn't stepped in sooner.

I wonder how much of his issues stem from the allegations. I don't follow him much, so he may have been a mess before that (as most tortured artists are) but those were some brutal claims and he's lucky people eventually say through it.

But every time I see their name, and especially his, there seems to be people who didn't stick around for the ending of that situation. I'm sure he's gotten some hate for it.
