Thats the usual for broadcast tv. They also get most weekends and holidays off as well so seems pretty great to me considering the money they make.

I unfortunately can't see him as anyone but Ross so the idea of him in that role...

It could have still been a fun/funny movie but COMPLETELY different style and direction.

More bumbling buffoon than cool rogue-ish newbie

What role? All I can picture is him walking up to an alien and going “Hi” in his sad Ross voice.
