unspeakably awful that now 2 kids will never even get to meet their dads, on top of how horrible every part of this already is.

also i’ve seen too many people question why she shared it publicly when she’s only 9 weeks along. the idea that people need to keep pregnancies under wraps until 12 weeks is ridiculous, especially in a situation like this. if it’s not your baby, you don’t get a say about when the announcement should happen.

i hope meredith and madeline both have healthy pregnancies and safe deliveries.

Mte. The 12 week thing feeds into the stigma and shame parents (especially mothers) feel around miscarriage. Parents should tell people whenever they want and feel comfortable doing so.

To me, it very much seems like she wants to share her grief and now she won't need to do a public press release in a few weeks. She almost certainly would have just found out and told him mere weeks or even days before they were killed, so the shape of her grief is unique. Every step of this pregnancy is going to be a painful reminder that her husband isn't there because of casual negligence. And their family is going to be grieving two missing people while welcoming two babies into the world. I just can't even imagine the conflicting feelings.

I do not know any of these people, so my shock just grew the more I kept reading. It just got worse and worse. :( May they rest in peace and may their families continue to have support for a long time to come.
