Umm i think actively abusing a pet around your child is also cause for a CPS visit I would think - what a monster.

I'm trying to feel bad for her because PPD is no joke, but it seems like she was quite aware of what she was doing. AS was the husband.

The fact that she still has this cat is horrible.

I wonder how aware she was at the time vs how she aware she thinks she was in retrospect. I read it earlier today and all I could think was, where was the husband when his wife was so obviously struggling? The entire thing read like a descent into PPD/PPP that she still hasn't been treated for and doesn't know how to frame in her mind as a result.
