Linkin Park's new vocalist called out as scientologist + Danny Masterson supporter

Well, what a mood whiplash we've been through in the past 24 hours! Initial excitement over Linkin Park's announcement of new music and two new additions to band has immediately gone sour as people have pointed out that the new vocalist, Emily Armstrong, is a member of Scientology and also friend and supporter of convicted rapist Danny Masterson. 2-time convicted rapist!

And multiple-time rapist besides.

Wtf?! Fuck all these men (re most supporters of men) (and some women like this vocalist and ie/ the women who sent letters for leniency for DM in this case) supporting rapists! And NOT supporting DV survivors and victims.

I'm so tired.

Did they like... not do any background research on her or do they just not care? Because either way, they fucked up majorly.

That makes sense for her to just fall into front vocalist for LP, whatever the fuck they do they get people jobs.

I was trying to give it a chance but fuck they just sold a legacy.

I have been really struggling since I found this out last night. I am disgusted and distraught. I really hope they make a statement and we find out she isn’t a Scientologist and has realized the error of her ways in regards to Masterson, but I really doubt that. I can’t wrap my mind around why the rest of the band would be okay with this in general, let alone with Chester’s history of SA and mental health concerns. I don’t know how to move forward with this information. They need to make a statement ASAP and immediately remove her if she still holds these beliefs. That’s the only way that this can be acceptable.

She's second gen and hardcore, there's no way she's leaving her entire family, all of her friends, and the only life she's ever known (not to mention her ~* eternal soul *~) for a band. She's likely in for good.

my dad's people had been catholic for hundreds of years and he left the church due what's arguably just as bad as what's being discussed here (international Child SA/trafficking). People leave LDS and Amish all the time. Let's not make excuses for people. Not attacking but I think we're all strong enough as humans to make difficult choices.

Well, that sucks. I'm not a huge Linkin Park fan but it was nice to see fans reacting very positively towards a female vocalist.

I didn't know that about Chester either, but if you're choosing to carry on without him (I'm not really judging the other members for that, though I see why it would upset others), putting someone with these views in his place seems like an absolutely terrible way to honor his memory.
