I am a longtime LP stan. 25 years I've rode for this band and I'm so disappointed now. I was very excited at the prospect of a female lead singer because I want more women in rock music, but this ain't it.

The Emptiness Machine *could* be about Scientology and wanting to leave the church, and maybe she has done that work and her socials aren't updated. But the fact that she is still following Danny on IG is sus at best.

I hope LP responds to this but I am doubtful. I have a feeling this will be swept under the rug as support has been largely positive, which I actually wasn't expecting in general, but I guess LP fans learned something after One More Light.

Yo. Yikes. Does anyone still do any research these days or is this people just thinking Scientology isn't all that bad?

From what I've been seeing so far, a lot of people don't seem to care and are about "separating the art from the artist" and "Scientology isn't worse than any other religion". Yikes is right.

Scientology goes through a lot of waves where people pay attention to the abuses, but mostly just try to downplay it by saying "all religions are weird/bad."

Back when I started protesting them (2008), I got a LOT of shit from randos saying "Why are you picking on them?" Every single time something like the Leah Remini show or Going Clear or My Scientology Movie drops, I get real fuckin' smug and hope those bootlickers are paying attention and eating their words.

Seeing that there are only an estimated 20-40,000 Scientologists worldwide was so shocking to me. The org is massively outsized in terms of influence and harm compared to its actual size. Hopefully this leads to more people going digging and seeing for themselves how horrendous Scientology actually is.
