I just watched the Peacock documentary on Gary Coleman last night. I thought it was well done.

It’s a little sad yeah. His own parents were basically stealing money from him but then tried to blame it on their financial people and as if they were financially illiterate. Here’s the thing - the most courteous interpretation is that his parents didn’t understand money or handling such large amts, but they sure didn’t try to make much right after being made aware of the misappropriation of Gary’s money

umm... it was a yes or no question. Just kidding! Thank you for the wonderfully detailed reply. I don't know why but I can't push play on docs about celebs I grew up with. I watched the Whitney Houston doc and it gave me the blues. So I'm still sitting on the Sinead O'Connor doc, and now Gary. I'd say I'm saving them for a rainy day but that would probably be the worst time to watch.

The fact that there is not even a federal version of a Coogan law shows how much lawmakers actually care about children. It should apply to reality stars and influencers with over a certain number of followers as well. Of course money is only a part of it but I feel like that's a baseline protection

I think often of the babies who played Lily on Modern Family for the first two seasons and how their parents walked away from soooo much money because they just felt like their babies weren't enjoying it anymore. Sometimes I think that child actors keep acting because their family depends on them or it becomes such a part of their identity they don't know how to walk away.
