but they're not going to cast any og actors. the hunt for gollum will obviously be set in the period well before the trilogy timeline, when gollum first discovered the ring. I could only see Gandalf and Galadriel making a return but both Ian and Cate haven't changed much so it wouldn't be difficult casting them.
Getting blood from a stone is; to make someone give or tell you something, when it is extremely difficult because of the character or mood of the person or organization you are dealing with: Persuading Chris to buy a round of drinks is like getting blood from a stone. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/get-blood-out-of-from-a-stone
I don't watch Rings of Power, so idk if the show covers this, but I'd love to watch a movie about the arrival of the Istari to Middle-Earth and Gandalf receiving Narya from Círdan. Also would be interested in seeing Gandalf's travels across Middle-Earth and his meeting and befriending of Aragorn.
But yeah, they'd better hurry tf up if they want Sir Ian to still be able to play this role!

Live action? Nope. Imo, they are all too old.

A certain recent sequel proved (to some - especially the studio at least) that someone doesn't need to be alive to in a movie.

Maybe "go to the well too often"?
To use, depend on, or draw from the same resource too many times, to the point of depleting or diminishing it.
