Asked to share why he bailed on Todd Haynes, Joaquin Phoenix says, “It would just be sharing my opinion and the other creatives aren’t here to share their piece. It doesn’t feel like that would be right. I don’t think that would be helpful so I just don’t think I will. Thank you”

Word salad? It wasn’t his opinion that dropped out 5 days before and left other people holding the bag. He had months to come up with a better answer. If he doesn’t want to answer then just say no comment?

And saying creative differences when you’re a producer, writer and you brought the project to Haynes doesn’t make sense. He was one of the creatives.

i think he's saying that if he answered the question it would just be his opinion, not the entire story because the other people involved aren't there

(Sorry for the reaction misclick!) That's a fair response in general, but they didn't ask him why the production generally broke down. They asked him why he left, which is surely something he can answer.
