Hockey Players Johnny & Matthew Gaudreau Pass Away

Columbus Blue Jackets winger Johnny Gaudreau, 31, and his brother Matthew, 29, were killed Thursday after being struck by a vehicle while riding their bicycles.

What a tragedy. Especially at a time when the family expected to be celebrating.

I literally cannot imagine the pain. I think they’re a family of four kids, so now only the 2 sisters are left.

The drunk driver could rot under the jail. Heard he had 6 beers before driving and failed the sobriety test. So needlessly reckless.

More news is coming in that he was STILL drinking in the car while driving and had open cans in there.

Like he couldn't have waited a fucking extra second behind the cars for his turn and decided everyone is a moron for going around cyclists.

apparently he thought the car in front of him was moving to block him from passing. road rage is such a problem.

Yeah this is a two fold problem, drunk driving and road rage. A family friend was hit by a car in a similar situation. She was in the crosswalk and a car was stopped as she passed when a driver swung around that car and hit her. Thankfully she survived but this kind of reckless behavior is very common in sober drivers. I've almost been hit myself countless times.

I saw the unconfirmed reports on Reddit last night and couldn't believe how tragic this is. Their whole family must be gutted. I read that Johnny has two kids under the age of 2? I literally cannot even fathom. I hope their family is able to find healing and peace somehow.

I saw it on Reddit last night too and when my kid woke up for her bottle I checked again and it was still silent. Woke up and checked first thing again and it was true.

It's so unfair - why aren't the bad people dying but the good ones go first.

Johnny's 3rd wedding anniversary was supposed to be on 09/04 as well. Terrible all around.

apparently the driver admitted to having 5-6 beers before getting behind the wheel and continued to drink while behind the wheel.
