i'm one myself, so no shade, but she is so millennial in a way Gen Z really doesn't care about

the "it's just a joke" humor, the dated fashion, the aloofness in interviews. no wonder Tiktok is on her neck

gen z loves gossip girl and satc - but specifically, they love the blairs and the charlottes.

hey we loved Blair too!

I will not stand for this collective amnesia over how salty Gossip Girl stans were over Blake's first Vogue cover back in the day specifically because Blair was the better dressed character on the show/more influential and they felt Leighton should have had the cover

she clearly wanted a Barbie where all the promotion centered on her like the promotion for Barbie centered around Margot, but Margot was the producer of the film and did so much work to see it come to fruition, had no problem sharing the spotlight with the other contributors to the film like Greta as the director, the other Barbies and America Ferrera as the actresses, Billie and Dua as the songwriters, Jacqueline Durran as the costume designer (how many other films can i even know the name of the costume designer without googling? they did a great job of highlighting her), etc. and wasn't shilling other Margot Robbie products at the same time. even if she had pulled off what she wanted, it would have been so self-centered compared to Barbie, and it would bulldozed over everyone else's contributions ( ... )

Margot didn't try to steal Greta's job and direct over her. And her husband didn't insert himself to rewrite a key scene.

I love hearing that Margot just wanted this film made and was happy to step aside to let someone else take over the lead role if Greta found someone more suited. Class act! The Barbie marketing was so much fun.

also Margot's Barbie fashion was actually intersting and transformative and not just straight runway looks.

I have to watch this later but if anyone ends up making a Terence Trent D'Arby biopic, they have their leading man.
