I know I'm alone in this but I enjoyed s1, especially Galadriel because I am a sucker for a badass babe. I read Tolkien as a kid and enjoyed the movies when they came out, but I'm not a hard-core fan so maybe that's why I can just let the show wash over me. Yes, it's a bit silly, but it's also quite wholesome and sometimes I just want to watch pretty people waft around a pretty landscape you know?

There's dozens of us actually!

I will stay away from the ONTD posts when the time comes though because some of these people definitely suck all the fun out of this perfectly fine show.

Adar... Like the Sindarin for father???

(Why do I know this. What use is that knowledge to me. Why don't I have useful interests like carpentry or power tools.)

I don't think I'll love this season as much as I did the first, but I am so stoked, especially about not having to wait years and years for it.

The first season wasn't perfect but I enjoyed it. I watched it with someone who is a huge LotR enthusiast and they had some gripes though. I did feel like the dialogue was less natural than the movies were, almost as if they were trying too hard and it was just... highfalutin. Also, it was much more viscerally violent than the movies. But I think the second season could be really good!

i'm a big tolkien nerd, and personally i don't mind the language. this is the 2nd age, and the further back you go in time in the silmarillion, the more archaic the language becomes, to the point that the first section reads almost biblical. there were issues i had w some of the delivery, some of it could have been a bit mroe natural, but it varies by actor, most of htem were fine for me.

(i'll say that some of the LOTR film dialogue additions are TOO casual for me lmao. "it's dwarves who go swimming with hairy little women"? PLEASE.)

I’m a pretty big Tolkien nerd, and I like the show. It does a very good job of capturing Middle Earth even if I don’t love all the choices. The casting is also very good and I love the constant commitment to an OP hot elf.
