“For a long time, I felt like there was something wrong with me. I was waiting for this light to go off in my head, and it never did. When you’re younger, you’re like, ‘Well, I can’t have kids. I’m too young! It’d be ( Read more... )

People will not leave you alone until you are married and have kids. It's so annoying. Once you do and you could divorce and have feral children but they don't care. It's like you're not part of society until you have done the deed then they don't care.

This. I’ve been working in another country, surviving in a tough industry for years now, but I stopped going home during high holidays because extended family only want to know when I’m going to get married (I’ve been told to stop changing bfs, just pick one guy and settle down ??) and to tell me I’m getting too old for children.

My current guy wants to have kids dearly and it’s stressing me out. I am not against the idea or think I can’t make the commitment, but I love my freedom (and my cat).

I agree with her, I’ve always felt like that too, like it was never a priority and as I’m older I’m like oh yeah it’s cause I don’t want them of course it’s not a priority… but I also think saying something “feels like birth” can be dismissive of birth trauma many people experience, so yes, we need to celebrate wins that are other things, but the problem is actually that we act as though birth is THE thing and so comparing your things to that almost weakens the argument.

I actually agree with something this woman says. Thank god my little brother popped out two adorable nephews because so my mom can stay off my ass about when I’m going to give her a grandchild. I thought me coming out of the closet would have been the nail in the coffin but she just pivoted to asking when I was going to adopt. 🙄🤦🏾‍♂️😂

only giving birth feels like giving birth, babes.

it shouldn't be a big deal if you want kids or you don't, but i think it's good for women in the public eye to talk about the choice not to. i do take issue with people who hate kids or are constantly talking about how much they dislike children existing in public, but that's something else.

There were people on ONTD who told me they only insult and bully children because society pressures to have kids. Like...🤦‍♀️

Yeah, I no longer tiptoe around people like that’s feelings. If you as a grown adult are saying that you legitimately hate kids, you’re a weirdo and you should know it. Kids are probably the most disenfranchised group on the planet, you’re not subversive, you’re literally reinforcing the status quo.
