For me and a lot of people I knew growing up, the n-word is truly the only word we were taught was hateful and just wrong. Fagg-t as well to some extent but people used that way more openly.
A lot of the other words were used ignorantly as slang.

I never used this term. It made me cringe. It's not like it was slang.
