I hate them because it's an incredibly isolating experience, where you basically stare at the void and have no idea, what you are doing right or wrong, or what they want from a character, and as an actor you absolutely could do it differently, if you knew, but you won't ever know, because your "tape" is buried in some virtual shredder of an inbox some casting agent assistant has. But I wouldn't call it disgusting, and for sure don't think that he would be upset with it for the same reasons as I do.

Basically it's like a slush pile for aspiring authors in that sense when you're trying to find an agent - most of the time you never get a response and you don't even know if they actually read your query letter.
Or a job application LOL

What I don't know is why he has a problem with it, since he most probably doesn't need to self-tape, and does get responses to his auditions (if he even does any).

I mean, he's right in several senses, but I just keep thinking back to when calling someone a television actor was an insult LMAO (at least on arrested development).
