Recently an ad for Rogers featuring John Krasinski dancing to a Taylor Swift song on a boat has started airing in Canada. Rogers is a communications and media company

No actual receipts or anything but I read (achem on Reddit) that it was filmed previously and it's a stock clip so they just took it and Rogers overlaid ads on top.

He'll have to address it soon though.

Even if that's the case, I imagine he'd have to approve his image being used. I'm kinda surprised that Canadian actors have been striking for two years and that's not a bigger story but I guess their media ecosystem is much smaller.

i don't believe they're on strike right now (lots of canadian productions are still happening), but it's that specifically they're locked out of commercial work. tv shows and movies are still going, but members of the union can't do commercials here (which can obviously be a lifeline for a lot of working actors).

Oh that makes a lot sense. Yeah if you’re a working actor, those jobs are probably super important for filling in gaps.
