I've seen people say he's now un-insurable and that he will probably be sued by the producers to get their money back, but who knows at this point. Whoever truly caused this situation to happen is an asshole, I know that (if it was Joaquin or the other rumor of WB-D demanding him be available to promote Joker 2, but how does this story make that look good? it doesn't - it might hurt his oscar chances).

I'm so genuinely shocked by this whole situation lol-like, I wasn't particularly attached to Joaquin Pheonix as an actor and I know he's kind of always been an artsy jerk with some questionable friends, but that's just sort of every Hollywood guy and he's legitimately quite talented. I feel like his personal brand has always come on the heels of the Daniel Day Lewis type where he prioritizes his work over everything and wants to be taken seriously, so doing something like this just feels wildly out of line with that.

Like, I can't believe he was truly so uncomfortable that he thought it was worth wreaking havoc on his good will as an actor. Take his serious-actor persona away and he's just some guy. Surely he can't just be THAT homophobic? I'm so curious to know wtf goes on.

Also there's something hinky about the way Kate Mara just completely disappeared off the scene after they got together, when she was previously a huge rising talent in Hollywood. That feels like a very high control relationship to me, if not worse.
