That is one of my nightmares when I see people, but kids, teens, and young adults especially, behaving foolishly on/around diving boards or diving headfirst from the side of the pool (especially into the shallower parts of the pool). Diving accidents are so common and they can be incredibly dangerous, even when you're trying to be careful (and I have no reason to believe he was doing anything but). Hopefully all is truly well and he's feeling a lot better now.

Diving/jumping accidents like this scare me (even if he wasn't injured badly). I feel like I've read so many stories of people jumping into pools when abroad ending up paralysed.

I remember reading once of a girl whose friend pushed her into a pool and she ended up paralyzed. People don't realize that just hitting the water wrong can do so much damage.

When I was in the 6th Grade one of the boys in class had an older sister (16?) that dove into pool at a friend's house, hit her head/neck on the bottom & became a quadriplegic. They had to move to a city with a specialized hospital for a few years for her to get treatment & learn what to do to take care of her.
They had insurance & some money (I forget the Dad's profession), but they had to sell off a lot of stuff to pay for the hospital & the specialized equipment needed to take care of her.

I'm glad he's okay. He's one of those actors that needs to write a book.

that’s terrifying!!!! i’m glad he’s ok.

two main rules around the pool growing up, no running in the pool area and no diving/jumping in the shallow end. i can literally hear my grandma and papa yelling “no running in the pool area” as i type this, lol.
