"Abjection is a powerful aphrodisiac, and desire requires a void." Pitchfork reviews often make me feel dumb. Or do they just love publishing word salads?

i had to google what "abjection" meant but i guess it's trying to say that songs about pain that are meant to be sexual only work if they actually come from a place of pain?

People overuse this term. But this album literally WAS a cultural reset. The songs were like nothing else that were going on in pop. I remember even my hood ass cousins giving props to the material and everyone followed suit. I really don’t think Britney gets nearly the recognition she deserves for being as innovative as she was. Everything she did even before then kinda ushered in a new sound, be it what she did playing with her voice(which is very capable and has many textures to it), or the experimental risks she took with music, especially being the pop it girl. And they don’t realize the level of creativity and control she had behind the scenes of some of her most iconic endeavors.

With that being said “Break The Ice”, “Toy Soldier” and “Get Back” are probably my top 3. But the whole album is no skips for me.

If you are going to revisit the album, score it right. 8.1 is too low. That album is a 9.5
