I really think she just isn't cut out for this career...ever since she first broke out she's seemed very sensitive to pushback. Not even a judgement on her music (which admittedly isn't my thing) but she truly just has never seemed to have a good time.

IA.
She reminds me of Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez; they just don’t have the emotional and mental capacity to handle their types of careers and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that (unless you keep going back into the lions den without the appropriate support and mental health tools) it’s a rough business and I don’t blame anyone for stepping out of it

Same.
Because of the way she put it, I had a revelation of sorts. That it's truly some dark times we live in. And I know that it sounds like a visit of Captain Obvious, but it just dawned on me that trying to cope with my mental workload I used to dismiss feelings like Halsey's as those of millennial whining, whereas truth is that it's hard for everybody. Everybody gets hate and little to no support and people don't unite based on something anymore.
I have 2 insanely different kids in highschool, and both considered quitting, teachers and staff were xenophobic and unsupportive (and they are of different ethnicities to top it), neither of them have friends.
Yesterday I visited 4 medical appointments for work and one for myself, and only 1 of them went well. It's just hard. There's constant misunderstanding, disorganization and stress.

As someone still on Tumblr, "she wrote on her tumblr" made me actually laugh out loud.

I know why I'm still here but why are you?

On a serious note, social media has very much made the loudest, meanest voices sound like they're the majority but I simply refuse to believe it.

yep. people genuinely believe that loudest voices on the internet are the general consensus. If I asked the average person about a lot of the online discussions they'd be ?????

Idt they are the majority but the silence of the "kind" voices also contributes to that bc people are far more keen to leave a shitty comment than they are to leave a nice one. something as mundane as 'you look great' or 'beautiful voice' can really make someone's day, yet folks don't really take their time to do that, they drop a like and that's it. meanwhile, if someone posts something they find ugly or annoying, even if it's in NO WAY problematic or affects their day, they will take the time to point out all the "flaws" with that content. I work with social media and lost track of how many times I heard 'it's okay, engagement is engagement' whenever I point out a certain content might not be well received. People are so miserable they genuinely seem to enjoy being mean to others, and as wild as it is, brands capitalize on that misery as well.

Engagement is engagement, after all.

i'm replying to myself but I relate to it as in post scary medical shit...your life is changed but the world is exactly the same. it feels like nobody cares. very lonely, as she says in the video.

but a video based on the human/artist behind britney spears inc. was gonna get a lot of views and controversy. c'mon.

and I like your music, halsey. I like the video for what it is. i'm just not into it. I could go listen to britney.

At what point, though, are those "fans" not really fans anymore?
