i thought it was a really cool way of representing the...hypocrisy? juxtaposition? of france having both hedonism and religion as part of their image. and ultimately nothing untoward was happening. damn i just hate how we cant have any art anymore.

I found it an especially weird choice given how France tries to separate religion from daily life as much as possible... they have a lot of secularist laws (although tbh, most of them feel more like anti-Islam laws in the way they are implemented).

Ha ha. Way to minimize her plight. 🙄 Calling her a bad DJ is not equal to sending her death, torture, and rape threats

also, im glad the usa doesn't have strict defamation etc laws

its kinda wild in some countries u can legally prosecute + police other people's opinions about you

like how does she say 'i wont be a victim' and 'i will sue anyone saying negative things baout me'

i feel worse for the guy who organized the whole thing who was attacked bc he was gay + jewish, i didn't see any personal attacks on her

the opening ceremony was kinda garish and there was a cheap ru pauls drag race thing going on-- it could have been a little more polished, i love drag queens and queer culture but it felt kinda cheaply corportately exploited or something imo

Gurl. The last famous defamation celeb lawsuit went how? And how did it went in the US? And how did the same suit went in the much strichter UK?

After witness how they broadcast rape testimony live on TV, I don't want to hear how much better the US is with defamation lawsuits ever again.

it wasn't just an opinion, according to the post:
Barbara Butch "has been threatened with death, torture and rape, and has also been the target of numerous antisemitic, homophobic, sexist and grossophobic insults"

I used to work with somebody who is a strong Christian, and he posted on insta that he was "disappointed, but not surprised" at the Last Supper tableau.

Like ok, if I had a penny for the number of times Christianity disappointed me and I wasn't surprised about it I'd be richer than anybody Earth, lbr. Idiot.

The opening ceremony playlist was an absolute BANGER

If Tony the hottie was smart and wanted to keep the momentum going he’d put the whole playlist on Spotify/Apple Music but noooo
