Oftentimes, directors and casting teams know what they are doing in matching a role with the perfect actor to make that character come to life. In other times, the viewer is left wondering what the hell happened when the final movie arrives and the actor just doesn't embody the role at all. The performance might fall flat, the actor might not have ( Read more... )

I actually liked Valerian (I saw it for free) and I didn't think Dehaan was anything spectacular, and that Cara was miscast but not awful. Rihanna would have made a better Laureline. I still really enjoyed it, but I also enjoyed Jupiter Ascending and Alita Battle Angel and every Avatar movie so expensive schlock sci-fi is kind of my jam.

Dane DeHaan was just THERE. At one point I wondered if maybe they had switched the roles and Cara played Valerian and Dane played Laureline it might have been better, but nahhh.

Personally i think George clooney was a bad batman but not a half bad bruce wayne

god the hype for hot jafar died quick when they saw his acting

I personally think Sean penn was miscast in Mystic river because he's a toxic individual who is abusive and when i watch mystic river knowing this

i was like i don't believe you sean

i know he;s a good actor but he ain't that good

also the reason cumberbitch is miscast as khan is because he's not even the same race as the character

sure ricardo was also not the right race to play khan but this was the 60's a different time

also i find it extra gross that a british man is playing a character who is supposed to be indian

like wtf

and i said it before and i will never stop saying it eddie did not deserve that oscar at all

it should have gone to michael keaton 10 times out of 10 it should have been keaton

It may have been the 60s, but wasn’t Star Trek known for breaking racial barriers? Casting a white guy to play an Indian guy seemed to go against what we’d seen in the show.

Maybe they had some pushback from executives? I don’t know.

LMAO Marwan can act (and he's hot), he just couldn't act in Aladdin, it's baffling. Also Guy Ritchie hasn't been a good director in like 20 years so I'm gonna blame him.

I wanted to say he gets typecast as a villain because of the Dutch movie Instinct, but that movie came out AFTER Aladdin so that can't be the reason LMAO.

The Valerian casting was so bad. The dialogue seems to indicate they’ve had this long relationship and seen it all and might be ready to settle down. Meanwhile, those two looked and woodenly acted like kids playing dress-up.

I don’t really care about the Cameron Diaz casting because that whole film was awful.

Troy was just a waste. Incredibly boring. No one had any spark or chemistry.

And yes, the Jafar casting was just bizarre

Cameron never stuck out to me in Gangs of NY because Leo was just squinty and DDL was over the top, and the movie was too long and boring.

The first couple of minutes of Valerian is my favourite part of the whole film. The rest of it was not it for me.

Hahaha YES. People saw that scene and got so hyped, then it was downhill from there. I think the second scene with the pearl people was also good but cheesy because man that life seems great, and then the slope down becomes way too fucking slippery to survive, mostly because of the terrible acting.

Star Trek II was such a mess. They kept saying before the film came out oh no Cumberbatch is totally not Khan. When he did the line My name is KHAN I rolled my eyes. And Kirk peeping the blonde when she was changing.
