I give you the grace I give you my art Biggest act on the planet, but not ideal body Shame for me not to look the way you need to To feel better about yourself and your ego Let me remind you why are you here To comment on my body behind your screen Shut it down and dim yourself Once I'm gone you will praise me to heavens
I get what they were trying to do, but I’m wondering why they didn’t research discussions in non swift spaces to see if it was an across the board improvement.
That said if anyone, swiftie or not, has a healthy relationship with their self image, that is always a good thing.
as someone who's actually done a qualitative content analysis, the scope is usually fairly limited. It's qualitative, it's not like you run a program analyzing it, it's got to be combed over by a person. It's time-intensive work and expanding the scope would have probably just made it a monstrously large task.
the words "qualitative content analysis" make me have war flashbacks to writing my MA thesis, but this is very interesting and if only the content I was analyzing had been this interesting?
like you might be sick of Taylor Swift posts, ONTD, but not nearly as sick as I got reading right wing editorials of the Affordable Care Act
I feel like this theme (fans of an artist saying their idol speaking about x, y, z helped them have a better relationship with x, y, z) is pretty common, at least in female popstar and actress spaces.
I think that’s why it’s so important that artists do open up a little and bring these conversations to the front because I see day after day fans talking about how said idol opening up about their struggles helped them with their own. Whether it’s Taylor or Lili Reinhart with mental health/body image, Madison Beer with bpd and suicidal ideation, Demi Lovato with addiction (ik they all talk about other stuff too), their fans actually listen to them when they talk and take those words to heart. They can have a really positive impact just by being a little honest and open with the conversation.
>Demi Lovato with addiction (ik they all talk about other stuff too)
i know many people find Demi to be Way Too Much, All The Time, but this is a genuinely good thing - very very few AFAB artists have ever been as open as Demi when it comes to talking about addiction. And not being coy with the facts either, the DWTD 4 part doco really laid it bare. I should note the first doco from umm 2017 I wanna say? I forget the name of it, but it absolutely screamed borderline personality disorder as well. I'm glad they're doing so much better now
