He was caught when he disclosed his plans online to an undercover cop in the US

News story seems to suggest a Kik channel which it seems like the cop was monitoring.

According to the article, it was on a group called "Abduct Lovers." An undercover officer saw it and the FBI alerted Essex cops the next day. It's kind of like the truism that if you're talking to a "hitman" online, it's the FBI.

Apparently the cop was based in Minnesota. He’s got of aliases that he uses to monitor forums etc - he gave evidence under a false name. He was really alarmed by this guy and how prepared he seemed to be, and escalated it immediately. He’d no idea who Holly was. Cop raised the alarm on October 3rd, police arrested the guy the following evening.

Not trying to diminish what he did, but its kind of aggravating how this guy can get life for plotting kidnap/assault/murder of a celebrity, but then actual murderers here can also get 'life' and it'll also turn out to only be like 15-20 years.

Its crazy that he's been doing this since at least 2006 though. There should've been more done sooner.
