I'm so done with streamers and taking ages to put out a handful of episodes. I'm fully back on board now with network TV, 22 episode seasons, that are churned out with regularity. It used to be that streaming shows had better quality writing and production, but that's gone to shit these past few years, so they just really don't have much going for them anymore. Cause somehow, despite only 8 episodes, Bridgerton season 3 felt like it had filler content that would be equivalent to filler content you expect on an NBC show who has nearly 2 dozen episodes to fill with content.

I'm so sad because Bridgerton especially, with it's massive cast of characters, would be so well suited to a 22 ep season.

Like the reason everyone forgets the Mondriches is they never sufficiently tied them to the main characters OR gave them quite enough breathing space to sustain their own plot (it was a bit better in season 3).

I feel like the sweet spot for tv was the time period in the '10s when cable shows were 13-16 episodes.

imo it started with Game of Thrones going 10 episodes, that was unusual for an HBO show at the time which were always 13, but GoT opted for more budget and fewer episodes, and the big sacrifice was characterization. Since then television has been so event-driven, 10 episodes has turned into 8 episodes, and I'm just waiting for it to become 6. I'm over it. I want TELEVISION, not an 8 hour movie that has been spliced up.

Yeah those were my thoughts too, that way there is more space and time for the series to develop the story throughout the episodes but not in the 20-24 episodes range where the cast and crew are getting overworked.

I want Anthony and Kate’s son to be a little terror driving Anthony insane but he’s conveniently well behaved in front of others and Kate lol Bonus points if he and Newton are attached to the hip and cause even more headaches for Anthony.

Utterly ridiculous for the biggest streaming service in the world to not have this ready to go at the same time every year. And I just finished it and the last episode was such a mess. The way everybody was just ok 🤷🏻‍♀️ after Penelope’s big Whistledown reveal. Like you all haven’t been in a chokehold trying to figure out who this is for years?!? There’s also WAY TOO MANY CHARACTERS FOR ONLY 8 EPISODES. Lost has really been heavy on my mind looking at all these short season streaming shows now lol. If Lost was made today it would only focus on Jack and Locke, with one episode split between Kate and Sawyers backstory and maybe one dedicated to Michael and Walt. We don’t have time with these short episode seasons to really get to know the characters and get all that good character development going 😔

tbf in the book Daphne is throwing a ball and colin says he has an announcement, says Pen is LW and then they just bounce and leave the ball and we see no fallout (and I am now on Hyacinths book so I'm guessing I would have seen the fallout by now)

Apparently they wrapped S3 in March 2023, so if we're going by that timeline, S4 will premiere in June 2026… They need to start combing seasons, otherwise it will literally be 2034 by the time they're done with all the siblings (and I'm guessing it will end up canceled way before that). I hate this slow production schedule, even Game of Thrones managed to keep up a yearly schedule all the way up until the last season.

I feel like this show being promoted as purposely inaccurate~ historical fiction from the beginning has turned it into a lifetime level production. I get that the source material isn't that accurate either but I genuinely thought the creative differences the show would have would be done so to enhance the books and their different plots; I also get that this is marketed as some sort of live action fanfic with the tropes and cliches and that you shouldn't think too deeply about it (since some folk just tune in for the smut anyways which... needs to be studied) but I like my escapism high quality in nature so can't help but feel whelmed and disappointed when efforts like this end up being y'know, ass.
This is why entertainment that appeals to women can never be taken seriously lol
