Season 3 had so many weird choices, the modern make up with smokey eyes and highlighter, the insane wardrobe with cheap fabrics, the threesome that seemed to last 3 days, introducing Michaela to undermine immediately the just-established relationship between Francesca and John …

I still think that 2 years between seasons is insane, especially with just 8 episodes

the full beat makeup killed me

The makeup was so bad. I can't get over the scene where Anthony tells Kate they should go to India. Like her makeup is so bright and weird and piece-y.

I never watched season 1 but I saw clips floating around and it looks like a totally different (and edgier) show.

I swear I saw a neon yellow bow on an extra in the first episode.

I've just decided this is actually the future and it just had vague similarities to the actual Queen Charlotte. Next season could have Benedict painting a half-buried Statue of Liberty inspired by his travels and I'd just go with it.

netflix's ridiculous production timelines need to be stopped (though i feel like they do it semi-deliberately to space out their bigger shows)

i will say though i didn't think s3 was all that much worse than the previous seasons, and i'm not really saying that as a compliment to s3 lol. the writing has never been good. i'd still rank s2 as the best one, but it was really kept afloat by simone and jonathan having great chemistry. s1 was easily worse than s2 and probably worse than s3 to me (i've never rewatched it so going off memory).

i get the complaints but the way the bridgerton reddit has been in like a month-long meltdown over s3 fascinates me.

The Bridgerton Reddit is full of the most miserable people on earth engaged in a never-ending ship war lol. I just scroll past now when it's recommended on my feed.

I get the complaints about the costuming and hair/makeup, because that was noticeably different in a way that I personally didn't mind since this is just a lighthearted mindless watch for me, but in a way that I could see why people who are into costuming and whatnot would care about. The writing seemed about the same as the other non-QC Bridgerton seasons. Season 2 is my least favorite primarily because of how much I hated the decision to have Edwina actually care for Anthony and for the two of them to actually get to the altar, but the writing wasn't much different quality-wise than the other two IMO.

Yeah they lucked out in S1 and particularly S2 because both leads were hot and had chemistry but the writing was never great. The subplots in S2 were tedious!! Nicola is amazing but she could only do so much with her costar dragging her down.

the two main subs are just... bro there has to be something you do like in life, go focus on that and enjoy it. everyone's just so miserable there like damn life's short, there's tons of dumb shit to like, go find it.

I love Bridgerton and hate that the last episode ruined so much of the season but also these filming timlines also make me wonder if it's a money laundering scheme sometimes?

Usually animation or superhero films can point to the CGI or the SFX and it's not like extensive historical costuming is some newfangled aspect. They even reduced some of the set pieces this year so what is it?

Okay my gamble: this is going to be a split Eloise/Francesca season. Though given how badly they fit all the story into 8 eps it's going to feel super crunched.

Also I s2g if they write out Johnny and Simone I will riot. Sending them to India so the baby could learn Kate's "heritage" (that the writers never define themselves) is the dumbest thing ever.

this is going to be a split Eloise/Francesca season

it would be interesting to see if they start combining siblings, because at this rate, i don't even think eloise will get a season...who is going to wait 6 years (potentially) for that?

And it made 0 sense for Anthony. The man is a tightly wound, neurotic control freak, and we're supposed to believe dude would be cool putting his pregnant wife on a boat to India?! Fuck all the way off with that, writers. If Anthony had been written in character, he would've been so glued to Kate's side that the Bridgerton family would've had to have an intervention to just allow Kate to be in a different room than him.

It also just makes no sense because Anthony's whole thing is he is the heir. He literally has to be there to run the estate. That's WHAT HE DOES.

The way the writers wrote Kate's family is psychotic. Kate's dead mother has a name (we never hear), Anthony wants their kid to know her heritage (that they don't discuss beyond her liking chai and playing with turtles), she's so happy to have Violet stay in the house because Indians place great significance on inter generational bonds (but they jetted her own family).

I keep saying this, but literally the low effort way of writing them in character that would allow Jonathan and Simone not to be there for all the eps was say that they were spending a lot of time with Edwina and her husband + Mary whenever they were offscreen. It would explain all the back and forth and literally they wouldn't have to keep creating all these bizarre tortured explanations for them not to be around.

sadly, i think the height of bridgerton fanfare is beyond us

between the choices that were made in season 3, and the two-year gap, i don't think interest will be the same come season 4

They've made the seasons way too much of an ensemble, completely ignoring a huge chunk of what made season 1 so successful was the show feeling like a romance novel in television format.

Ehh, my not-as-online friends are still enjoying it. I didn't care for it, but the general public is still going to tune in for what Netflix tells them to tune in to.
