i probably know why anne rice wrote that claudia dies

because anne rice was unconsciously writing through her grief of losing her 5 year old daughter to cancer

i read the book and claudia is much younger than both the film version and this version

also being 5

now i've seen both death scenes of claudia and they both break my heart

i still haven't watched this btw i'm just saying i know what's gonna happen and i know it's gonna hurt

thats absolutely why - iirc she said she locked herself in a room and wrote the book to grieve. she wanted a way for her daughter to live forever. i think she also said her husband inspired lestat at one point which made me wonder about their relationship lol

i know fanfic writers hate her but i've always liked anne rice because she really cares about her kids

like when she went through her super christian phase and then her son came out as gay and she immediatly left the church she was in because they didn't support gay people
