Alan Cumming talks about iconic performances from Spice World Josie and the Pussycats Cabaret X2 The L Word Schmigadoon! Romy and Michele's High School Reunion The Traitors
He is so good in everything he does even if everything else is terrible my favorite type of bad movie is "Alan Cumming Is The Only One Who Understood The Assignment"
Has anyone else seen The Anniversary Party? I saw it in college and I can barely remember what all happens, but idk why the existence of that movie - just the existence - lives rent-free in my mind LMAO.
I haven’t seen that movie in 112 years and barely remember anything about it aside from its great cast. If it’s streaming anywhere, I should do a rewatch.
Omg yes. I have a vague memory of Gwyneth Paltrow (as herself basically?) talking about Shostakovich? And real life couple Kevin Kline and Phoebe Cates being married.
He produced and acted in Sweet Land which is a favorite of mine. I really adore him in "The Traitors," too- him being the host is a big reason why the show is so entertaining. Cabaret's a very poignant story these days and everyone should watch it at this point, he was perfectly cast as the MC in the stage production, but I still prefer watching the 1972 film.
I mean, Eli Gold is one of my favorite characters he's played and they don't mention it? Sad : ( He has such a huge resume so I know it's hard to mention everything but still. Kind of bummed.
Honestly my favorite performance of his is as the Narrator from Reefer Madness: the Musical, which is worth seeing once if you haven't (it's on Tubi!!). It's also Kristen Bell in her least annoying role, believe it or not. He does impish malice so fucking well.
Second favorite is tied between Floop and Nightcrawler.
I forgot, I have /csb about him too! Several years ago he made a stop at my uni for his Alan Cumming Sings Sad Songs tour, and bestie somehow got us second row seats for that. He's an INCREDIBLE performer live. There was also a bit where he caught a girl in the front row sneaking out and called her out on it by saying "Was it something I said?" (she apologized and said she just really had to pee.) and then while she was gone had her best friend hand him her phone with which he took a bunch of selfies and then had the entire audience say hi as he recorded a clip of himself goofing around before handing it back and continuing the performance. At the end of his last encore, he pointed at her, winked, and said "Hey check your phone, good night." The SCREAM she let out when she saw what he'd done, lol.

I remember where they all took Ecstacy or something and teenage me was like, "OMG THEY'RE SO COOL!"
