I know the Cabaret discussion is finally over but I do think Eddie Redmayne (even though I do not think that production is for me) was always going to be at a disadvantage because Alan's Emcee was last on stage ten years ago. On top of that, Joel Grey is still alive. When you have two really memorable performances that are different, I feel like you/the production can try and do something different that ends up just going boom.
also I watched his Who Do You Think You are and violence [Spoiler (click to open)] his grandfather dying by Russian Roulette and/or executed is crazy, on top of there's now a park named after his grandfather who was most likely killed by locals
