this is why i have never and never will go up to a a famous person if i see them in the wild. just treat them exactly as what they are to you, a stranger.
secretly taking a photo or stopping them while they are mid walk/eating/conversation is so rude. children are the only exception to this.

Not the best analogy or comparison at all imo - but someone saying “no” to a request (such as a photo) shouldn’t be labeled “rude” unless that person also insulted you or something else besides simply saying no.

“Well this comes with the territory” is never a good excuse. Even famous people deserve to have boundaries and to assert them.

It's fine. Alan Alda famously refused to sign autographs, but would chat with a fan instead. Partly because one of Robert Alda's fans once ran up to Robert and punched him.

The only thing I can think of is that if a fan takes a photo with someone and then immediately posts it to social media, other eagle eyed fans online could be able to track the real time location of the celeb.
