it's odd how the FBI took that informant's tip seriously because there have been other mass shootings that could have been avoided if cops had taken the concerns of civilians seriously. I know the FBI is not the police but still.

I think FBI actually takes tips seriously compared to the cops. You always hear of tips going ignored and unchecked when it comes to cop.

But also I imagine this informant is long-time associate of them so they're gonna take it seriously coming from them.

yeah the person who left the tip wasn’t a random person, he was an undercover agent embedded within the gun show where prieto was attempting to recruit help for his plot. that kind of social circle is swarming with undercover agents pretending to be civilians.

D:!!

Thank God it got stopped but OMG!!

"The FBI arrested Prieto on May 14, the date of the first Bad Bunny concert, during which he admitted to discussing attack plans but denied intending to carry them out."

It's all guts and glory until you're caught 😒😒😒😒

End him.

I’m so thankful for that informant, so many lives have been saved. I can’t even allow myself to imagine how people who attended that concert feel reading something like this.

he believed Black people “can’t have any feeling, they’re not people, they are monsters as far as I’m concerned.” Court documents revealed that Prieto wanted to provoke a "race war prior to the 2024 United States Presidential Election."

How is this a real thig? Like I get it but I also don't want to get it - does that make sense?

Wtf. So glad they caught him.

Also cases like this is why for the longest time I did not go to the movie theaters. I got spooked after the aurora shootings cause it's all random and non-preventable. It's literally wrong place, wrong time :'(

We could've had another Manchester tragedy here.

I'm not even in the US but that Aurora shooting definitely left its mark on me too. I often think about it in the cinema and get a bit freaked out when people show up late or act weird at all. And then I go through this mental pep talk like "this is a small movie, it's a Wednesday, if someone wanted to do that they would pick a big opening night". It's not great.

I also ended up scrapping my dream of an exchange year in the US (one reason why I went back to university in the first place) because the Uvalde shooting was the last straw for me. I know it's still statistically unlikely but what scares me the most is how mass shootings are an everyday occurrence but most people running the country don't even care.

Super late to this post, but I have completely stopped going to movies, concerts, theme parks, etc. because of the fear of gun violence. I work for a local government that had a mass shooting event (not my department, but I do know people who were directly impacted), and any time I have to be in any of the buildings near where it happened, I am absolutely riddled with anxiety the whole time. The fact that nothing is being done to stop this and the far-right is getting closer to being fully in power is terrifying. I do not have ties in any other countries, so I am just stuck in this godforsaken place hoping I don't get caught in a mass shooting event.
