On June 11, a federal grand jury indicted Arizona resident Mark Adams Prieto, charging him with firearms trafficking, transfer of a firearm for use in a hate crime, and possession of an unregistered firearm. The FBI arrested Prieto last month after months of surveillance, following a tip-off from an informant who claimed Prieto endorsed the idea of a mass shooting targeting Black people, Jews, and Muslims. According to authorities, Prieto aimed to stage a mass shooting at a Bad Bunny concert in Atlanta to incite a race war ahead of this year’s presidential election.

Prieto allegedly recruited the informant and an undercover FBI agent to assist in the attack, planning to leave Confederate flags at the scene. He discussed the idea of wearing hoodies to avoid suspicion at the concert. In a recorded conversation, Prieto expressed his motives: “The reason I say Atlanta. Why, why is Georgia such a f-ked up state now? When I was a kid, that was one of the most conservative states in the country. Why is it not now? Because as the crime got worse in L.A., St. Louis and all these other cities, all the n-ggers moved out of those (places) and moved to Atlanta. That is why it isn’t so great anymore.”

Prieto's plan involved shouting “KKK all the way” and “Black lives don’t matter, white lives matter” during the attack. He emphasized showing “no mercy, no quarter” because he believed Black people “can’t have any feeling, they’re not people, they are monsters as far as I’m concerned.” Court documents revealed that Prieto wanted to provoke a "race war prior to the 2024 United States Presidential Election."

The FBI arrested Prieto on May 14, the date of the first Bad Bunny concert, during which he admitted to discussing attack plans but denied intending to carry them out. A search of his home revealed an unregistered short-barreled rifle.
