Credit in the United States is a nightmare. I under why it’s needed but it’s hard af to recover. My credit score dropped 60 points when I paid off my car. A friend of mine had like almost 800 and when he payed off a credit card bill his dropped 80 points

Interesting too that only in 1974 could a woman get credit. 50 years ago.

My grandma passed away earlier this year when she was 94. It was crazy hearing all of the things she helped pioneer. The world was that different in the 60s and 70s.

my grandma is about to be 84 and when she was a teen she really wanted to wear pants but she wasn't allowed to and that thought just fills me with such rage

To this day i have never seen my grandma wear a skirt or dress

Mine wore shorts a lot. She had great legs & arms.
She was an amazing waterskiier. My dad & his siblings said that you wanted grandpa john to deliver the spankings growing up. Grandma’s arms were built like bricks.

credit scores are really a scam. something else I haven’t seen mentioned yet is that your credit score is also based on the age of your oldest line of credit and for many of us the first thing in our credit history is our student loans (or at least for me it is) which means when you pay them off it’s a huge ding to your score.

lol I don’t have to worry about that because I’m nowhere near close to paying them off, but when I thought we were getting forgiveness for that short period of time I did think about it.

My credit score dropped by like 80 points briefly when i opened a new credit card because someone at Lowes didnt know how to access my old credit card so they instead closed it and opened me a new one. It's now higher than it was when i opened it last summer but still what a pain in the ass.
