My front teeth have acid damage (not sure why - I don't puke a lot, never had bulemia, don't drink a lot of soft drinks - I blame Crest strips and at-home whitening) which has made them discoloured and weak and now they're starting to chip. So I need to get crowns and it is going to be SO DAMN EXPENSIVE, but I'd like to have a nice smile again so probably going to cough up for it.

acid reflux? carbonated water can also do it. not many people consider it to be like soda because it doesn't have the sugar, but it erodes enamel.

Nope - never struggled with acid reflux and don't like fizzy water! And it's literally like my front 4 incisors

I have severe damage as well. My front two teeth are pretty see through. It was because I drank a lot of orange juice as a kid/teen. And I hate it but the cost to get crowns/veneers is insane and I see so many bad results I just can’t bring myself to do it.

Ugh i'm terrified of the dentist, even more than the doctor. I have so many cavities that i can feel right now, but i can't afford fillings.

I might go see a dentist just to get a cleaning/consultation, maybe they can refer a low-cost one. Medi-Cal doesn’t cover dental for everyone.

I’m not afraid of the dentist - I’m afraid of how much the dentist costs. My teeth are fucked since I hit menopause but I don’t have the tens of thousands it would cost to fix them, so I just live with my hillbilly mouth.

Yep, your bones get weaker and more porous, including jawbone, so it can loosen your teeth, which is what happened with mine. I never had gaps and they were pretty straight with just a slight crook in my two front teeth, and now they’re all over the place and also weak and more prone to pain. Just another fun thing about being a middle aged woman 😩
