I prefer Dolly’s version because it isn’t blaming the other woman, or acting like a man has no agency, it’s about power, that he has over her because she loves him more than he loves her and a desperate, last ditch plea woman to woman because there’s nothing she can do.
Whereas Beyoncés version is more like ‘I’ll get you if you steal my man’ which…if you have all the power here then why the fuck would you want a man who doesn’t respect you? It feels more like she’s Jolene tbh.
Dolly’s version was desperate in a sad and pathetic way. It made me feel bad for her.
Beyoncé’s version was just pathetic. Your man already cheated and she’s out here warning other women and bragging that she raised him? Who would want your man?

She was likely going about her day, flipping her ginger hair and minding her business, while Dolly’s weirdo boyfriend was stalking her.
