Trying to find the motivation to watch... but like idk.

The best Treks are true ensemble shows and Disco never really found that.

My motivation is Wilson Cruz's titties.

I liked the early seasons but the time travel suit thing was meh. Loved how inclusive it was as a show though. Black female lead, gay characters, plus size character… it felt quite refreshing at the time!

I started watching Disco during the pandemic and I fell in love with the cast and the insane plots that are always the highest stakes possible. I'm so crushed it's ending. 😭 It seems so high budget I cannot believe it's not airing on CBS or somewhere more accessible to the general pop.

Disco made me want to watch all the other Star Trek series, which are so very different. I get why people have a hard time connecting with it bc it's nothing like it's predecessors. But now I really love DS9, Next Gen, Picard, SNW, and Lower Decks. The rest of the franchise is okay but I don't connect with it as much.

Hopefully the Starfleet Academy spin-off learns from the mistakes of this show. Tawny Newsome being a writer makes me tentatively excited.

Now if only the Trekbros could shut the fuck up about Star Trek: Legacy.

lol I would be more into it if Matalas didn't make it clear that it would just be TNG: Muppet Babies. I'm okay with the LaForge sisters being in a show, but I found Jack to be an incredibly grating character and I'd even argue that if he was a female character instead he'd be accused of being a Mary Sue by the fandom. I don't know if I'd be able to handle an entire season of Jack, even for Seven.

And then the final nail was Matalas saying Worf's son Alexander would be in the show. Like I don't caaaare. Why is Seven's ship the one where all the nepo babies are going to?

That's why I'm more into the idea of Starfleet Academy. Something set in a mostly unexplored century and a new idea that hasn't been done before in Trek.
