Charli XCX tells Rolling Stone UK she was initially jealous of Lorde following success of “Royals”:

“When ‘Royals’ came out, I was super jealous of the success that that song got, and that Ella got. You piece all this stuff together in your brain, like: ‘She was into my music.… pic.twitter.com/a7TH5vLED7

She turned on Rina for calling out Matty Healy for being a shitstain racist.

And this is why I think Charli XCX is nothing more than a social climber and a kiss-ass.

Who turns on a person that is calling out racism??? opportunistic social climbers that’s who.

Judging by the people she's been hanging out with and some stupid shit she's said over the years, Charli's a "cool" girl, a mean girl, not like the other girls.

Professional jealousy is real and it sucks even when you know it's dumb and petty.

No this is not about me! (this is definitely about me ) 👀

This past year has opened my eyes to how messy she is.

That being said, I am surprised she hasn't broken through yet. She has a dedicated fanbase and the music, especially on her last album, was very commercial and radio friendly.

I feel like her solo music is too grating/repetitive for even radio. She does best as a feature for other people, and peaked popularity-wise with Fancy.

its times like these when people scratch their heads when you know the music just aint good enough. I never replay anything I hear from her, its empty and soulless imo.

Her style of music is an acquired taste in my opinion. Not everyone is into that hyperpop brand of pop.

Yeah, this stuff happens for everyone. It's important to recognise it for what it is and get over it, like she did. Glad she's on good terms with Lorde.

I was just talking about this kind of thing yesterday, like you read a book by someone else and think "damn it, I could write this better. Why am I not rich?"

I sometimes think that too when I read or watch a film! This is obviously not what Charli is talking about because she was actively making music and chasing her dreams, but sometimes I have to force myself to acknowledge that the difference between success in a certain field and lack thereof is often persistence, seeing things through and having blind faith in oneself.
