Idk anyone who watched it for the political aspect. It was a more upbeat/less awkward version of The Office. The best scenes were the ones that had nothing to do with their jobs (except for the ice rink scene when they campaigned… that was excellent).

Post-Trump election and current political landscape? It's just pretty laughable to me. Definitely very centrist in a way that I now roll my eyes at. I could never rewatch it now.
I also think back to some of my professors at the time Trump got elected who thought my fears about the trajectory of our country were unfounded and overblown because "our checks and balances" and "institutions" would protect us.

I do kind of think Park does a good job of reflecting the privileged sort of democrat thinking from that time, tho? The ones that could afford to be hopeful
