During an interview with Waitrose & Partners’ Dish podcast last week, Dua Lipa confessed that she doesn’t go to therapy, but that astrology is more her speed. When asked how much does astrology dictate her life and if she makes a decision based on it, she had this to say: “Let’s put it this way, I don’t have a therapist, but I have an astrologist ( Read more... )

People who believe in astrology are morons and I think most people who say they don't really believe in it, they're just doing it for fun, are lying to themselves a bit.

I used to be a more accepting person, but 🤷🏼‍♀️

It is kind of silly to think that apparent planetary motion in the sky affects people. I don't really care if people believe it or not but telling me that when Mercury is in retrograde is why things are bad and it's dumb. Literally just looking like it's going backwards but it's not that Mercury is going backwards at all just looks like that in our sky from our reference frame.

For the most part I agree, it is largely just a fun and kooky thing (as long as you don't centre your entire personality around it). I think if people approach it in certains ways though, astrology can be a bit like therapy. It explores external influences on the self and maybe a degree of introspection. I appreciate the vast majority don't use it that way lol

Me too, until I realized we're essentially enabling denialism dressed as positivity and energy. I'm all for people believing whatever they want, but keep your astrology, religion and any other fanfiction you chose to believe away from issues that require actual knowledge and science, please.

It sounds like she's using her astrologist as a therapist. I've heard of people pulling tarot/oracle cards and interpreting with a bit of a theraputic slant. If it works for her, seems fine to me. Traditional therapy doesn't work for everyone.

Yeah in most cases that’s what tarot/astrology really is but realistically it’s a lot easier to get grifted that way than in legitimate therapy.

I don't disagree with your last sentence, but using your astrologist as a therapist sounds like a good way to get scammed

Oh, for sure but it's not my money, lol. There's clearly some blurred lines for her to be texting this person 'all the time.' Hopefully this person is just an on call bestie.
