I feel like the early red flags were already there when her team “leaked” to deuxmoi that she dyed her hair to start her new era and then when she dropped the picture with the new hair she deleted it bc the reaction was so lacklustre lol
The album has grown on me. I do think most of it is uninspired but I really like Happy For You and could see that song taking off
Idk I think it's super hard to hit the highs of future nostalgia. I feel like everyone's willing her to flop now just because she didn't have a viral moment with this album. Not every thing has to be an instant hit.
Each of the singles have grown on me and have ear wormed their way to my playlists. So far from the listens I've given this album, apart from the singles, End of an Era/Maria/These Walls/Happy for you are sticking out to me.
IMO it's fine. I liked These Walls and Falling Forever. I think there were way more interesting songs on the album than I was expecting, but interesting isn't necessarily what the people are looking for lol.

So what song sounds closest to Houdini (besides, well, Houdini)?
That's what I liked.
I listened to clips and wasn't grabbed by anything outside of French Exit.

I also like “Anything For Love” but found the talking at the start out of place for this type of album and I only like it after the beat drops, too.
I’m sure she can turn the album around with a deluxe edition down the line, though.
