9 out of 10 times in grade school some misinformed teacher would put my last name first bc that's more traditionally a first name.

In your case it was a mistake, but we had a person who did it on purpose. One partner rep keeps doing this to me and my last name doesn't even sound like first name at all and there are other people in the chain who call me by my first name (which is, although foreign to some of them, but a pretty common name tbh). At some point I caught her doing this to another colleague and there were certain similarities in who she did this to, so I decided to be petty and started doing the same and suddenly she learned how to address us. 🤗
